Step by step recipe for turmeric latte

To share this recipe with you, we tested many different options and came up with our own – healthy, tasty and easy. Follow the instructions and make one cup:

  1. Prepare 50 ml of strong black coffee using any convenient method – in a coffee machine, Turk, filter, etc. The drink should be concentrated, like a double espresso.
  2. While the coffee is preparing, pour 150 ml of warm milk into a large glass and add spices to it:
  • teaspoon (without top) of turmeric;
  • a pinch of cinnamon;
  • ground black pepper on the tip of a knife.
  1. Whip the milk with spices using a frother or blender. It should become foamy and golden. At this stage, it is best to add a sweetener – sugar or honey. Vanilla syrup will also go very well with the drink.
  2. Pour the finished portion of coffee into a cup with frothed milk and, if desired, garnish with a pinch of cinnamon on top.

If you like coffee made on the stove, the recipe can be simplified: immediately put in the Turk not only the ground beans, but also the spices. However, it is better to pour in the milk at the end. And remember that all dishes that come into contact with turmeric acquire a yellowish tint from the inside. When heated, this effect is especially noticeable.

For coffee with turmeric, choose a dish that you can easily wash away the strong staining of turmeric.

It is permissible to experiment with the proportions of the proposed recipe: for example, you can brew not too strong coffee and add half as much milk, about 100 ml. This will no longer be a latte, but just coffee with milk, but the pleasant taste will not go anywhere, and the aftertaste will be just as warm and warming.

Is it necessary to add milk and pepper?

The most valuable thing in turmeric is curcumin, a substance that is found only in this plant and… is very poorly absorbed in its pure form. If you simply drink a cup of coffee with turmeric, most of the curcumin will pass through the digestive tract without lingering in it.

The best way to increase the efficiency of absorption of this substance is to add fats and piperine. Fats are found in milk, piperine is found in black pepper.

If you don’t like the spiciness of the latter, you can, of course, refuse it, but the healing properties of turmeric will be significantly reduced. However, most likely, you will not even feel this pinch. But milk can be easily replaced by any other fat-containing products: use cream or ice cream. Or just have a dessert made with butter with your coffee.

What is the power and benefit of turmeric

Inspired by folk remedies, scientists have been studying the effects of curcumin on human health for many years. In particular, they have found that turmeric:

  • helps with indigestion, working in the same way as omeprazole;
  • reduces symptoms of depression in people already taking antidepressants;
  • reduces blood fat levels and helps prevent more fat from accumulating in the liver;
  • relieves inflammation;
  • acts similarly to ibuprofen, reducing pain levels;
  • reduces itching.

Of course, turmeric itself will not work a miracle: after all, it needs to be added to food in large quantities so that the effect of curcumin is comparable to the effect of pharmaceutical drugs. However, it is a good support for the already prescribed treatment, especially during various acute respiratory viral infections. It is not without reason that traditional medicine primarily suggests using turmeric as an anti-inflammatory agent.
